Sundays: 10:00am
Fridays: 9:00am

Fields: Grass
Description: Beginner-friendly co-ed pick-up game that has been going on for many years with a wide age and skills range.

We're all about having fun and exercise. We don't keep track of any score. If you can do a basic frisbee throw, you're good to go - we'll teach you everything else. Just come by and approach anyone, we will include you and match you with someone at your level/speed/age.

We have a few more serious players, too, and mostly do 1-on-1 defense so you usually will be matched with someone your own ability and speed.

Sundays are usually more busy. Friday morning games are sometimes cancelled due to lack of players.

If no one's there at the start time, please wait 15 minutes - most folks are not on time.

If weekday games are on a public holiday, start time is 10am.

Montclair Dads and Moms and Kids Frisbee

Contact: Chris Gulli

Saturdays: 9:30AM

Fields: Grass
Description: CURRENT LOCATION: Shepherd Canyon, at least for a few weeks.

A very casual game of parents (mostly Dads) and kids, ages range from about 3rd to 10th grade, then from about 35-55, with wide varieties of skill and fitness levels.
We start at 9:30am, game usually starts around 9:45-10. We usually wrap up around 11:00-11:30. We play half the year at Shepherd Canyon soccer field (next to the firehouse), then the other half at Montclair Park (Next to Lucky's) when kid soccer comes around. Rough schedule is Montclair Park September, October, then April, May and a little June, all other times at Shepherd Canyon.

We have a Teamsnap to track availability, send me an email if you have questions or want to join. Occasionally we don't have a quorum and cancel the game, but that's only a couple of times a year.

Here's a recent write-up we had in the local paper:

A few items that best give the flavor of our game,
1) Sidelines are more like guidelines, as long as you catch it, you can throw it back in.
2) We do let the younger kids play by kid rules, which means if they touch it but drop it, we count it as a catch where they touched it. Adults need to petition league commissioner for an exception to play by kid rules. (The kids are getting better since I wrote this so we don't have too many playing like this anymore. and taller. and faster. It really stinks.)
3) We kind of keep score, but some how we always end up in a tie around 10:30 when someone gasps "Next 2 out of 3 wins”.
4) Running is allowed, but not encouraged. (or to put it another way, "It’s been years since I played regularly, and I wasn’t fast then.") Seriously, you can usually match up pretty well with someone in your fitness/skill level.
5) It's about the journey, not the destination.

Walnut Creek Pickup

Contact: Young

Sundays: 11am-2pm
Mondays: 5:15pm
Saturdays: 10am

Fields: Grass
Description: There are two sets of games at Civic Park run by two different groups at different times:

1) The first is a Meetup for those interested in playing a friendly, co-ed Ultimate Frisbee game in Civic Park in Walnut Creek on Monday evenings (usually starting around 5:15 at Civic Park in Walnut Creek) and Saturday mornings (usually starting at 10am at Newhall Park in Concord). No previous experience with Ultimate Frisbee is required, but basic throwing and catching skills are appreciated (and folks are generally happy to help you if you ask, especially during warm up).

Ultimate Frisbee is a non contact sport meaning no physical contact is allowed between players. Recommended items to bring: exercise clothes, cleats, both a light shirt and dark shirt (to switch teams as necessary), sunscreen, hydration, and first aid. Extra discs and cones are a plus, but we have enough.

This group does most of its organizing on Facebook - so if you want to be sure to see the latest updates, go to: Walnut Creek Novice-Intermediate Ultimate Frisbee and join there as well. RSVPs for those planning to attend (not those who regretfully cannot participate) are encouraged, as it helps us determine whether there are enough people to have a game, especially as some folk come from far away to play, so please keep your status up to date.

2) The second is a game that has been going strong for over a decade. The level of play is intermediate to advanced (positions may be called prior to pull, mix of ho and vert offenses, zone D is rare but possible), though beginners are definitely welcome. The primary game is on Sundays, from 11 am to 2 pm.

Updates regarding cancellation or field changes and RSVPs for this game are handled through evite. If you'd like to receive the evites, email Young at i_gromit_i@yahoo.com.

Friendly and newcomers are always welcome. It's competitive in the sense that we often run hard and play with a stack, but we want everyone to have fun and aren't so worried about who wins etc.

There can sometimes be a few ultimate games on the Oval. We play between the sidewalks, and on the end of the Oval farthest from the quad and Memorial Church.

Come join us! Apologies if we don't get back to you right away, but we will get back to you! Also, the game starts at 3pm when daylight savings time is off and 4pm when daylight savings time is on.

If the map on this page is unfamiliar to you, here are directions from downtown Palo Alto, CA: Please drive up University Avenue in Palo Alto (the main shopping street) toward Stanford. University Ave will become Palm Drive. Take Palm Drive as far as you can until you run into “The Oval”. Park in any of the spots that border The Oval and you will find us on the grass strip in the middle of the field. People start to arrive at the scheduled start time to play catch and warm up. Sundays: 3:00PM

Fields: TURF
Description: ** 3/15/20 update: Cancelled unitl April due to COVID-19 **

To #flattenthecurve we will honor social distancing and cancel this pickup game until further notice to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We anticipate re-starting in the first half of April, depending on conditions.

Meet at Willow Glen High TURF football field on 2001 Cottle Ave, 95125.

Meet @ 3pm, games starting 3:15 or so, usually playing until 5:15ish. Field is packed, but play is friendly and spirited. We play all year, same time!

Friendliest pickup in town! Players are half regulars, half new to this pickup. New players always welcome! Many of us play the Sunnyvale Ortega/Stocklmeir Wednesday 6pm game in the daylight savings season. This is a great game to learn or practice skills and to make great friends. A bunch of players have small kids who sometimes hang out on the sidelines - kiddos welcome!

Bring a light & a dark shirt (please skip pale colors like grey & yellow!) - be flexible & ready to make matched teams for good, fun play.

This game plays every week unless canceled on the Facebook page.

We used to play at Houge Park, previously John D. Morgan park and Marijane Hamann Park.

See us play! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwbahZOUvvs

Sundays: 9:15
Saturdays: 9:15

Fields: Grass
Description: Want to start your day with a friendly, no-stress game of Ultimate in the Santa Cruz mountains? Come join us! We play with a huge range of ages and experience- we have grandpas who still dive after the disk, and we've made special rules for kids. We welcome both newcomers and experienced players.

We play Saturday and Sunday mornings when at least 6 people commit to playing on our Facebook page (Summit Frisbee). We say we start at 9, but we're a pretty relaxed group and most of us don't show up until 9:15 or so.

Being in the mountains, our field is a bit of an adventure- it's a little rough and there's a couple holes. We work with the soccer dads to keep it fixed up as best we can.

We usually play at the Loma Prieta Elementary field on Summit Road, though when soccer starts up we sometimes move to a smaller field across the street. Occasionally we will organize an evening game during the week. Feel free to stop by or join our Facebook group!
