Sundays: 10:00am
Fridays: 9:00am

Fields: Grass
Description: Beginner-friendly co-ed pick-up game that has been going on since many years; with a wide age and skills range.

We're all about having fun and exercise. We don't keep track of any score. If you can do a basic frisbee throw, you're good to go - we'll teach you everything else. Just come by and approach anyone, we will include you and match you with someone at your level/speed/age.

We have a few more serious players, too, and mostly do 1-on-1 defense so you usually will be matched with someone your own ability and speed.

Sundays are usually more busy. Friday morning games are sometimes cancelled due to lack of players - ask to be put on our Teamsnap list to get notices about cancellations and field changes.

If no one's there at the start time, please wait 15 minutes - most folks are not on time.

If weekday games are on a public holiday, start time is 10am.

Montclair Dads and Moms and Kids Frisbee

Contact: Chris Gulli
Email:

Saturdays: 9:00AM

Fields: Grass
Description: A very casual game of parents (mostly Dads) and kids, ages range from about 3rd to 10th grade, then from about 35-55, with wide varieties of skill and fitness levels. It says 9am, but sometimes no one's there until 9:10 or so. We usually wrap up around 10:15. We play half the year at Shepherd Canyon soccer field (next to the firehouse), then the other half at Montclair Park (Next to Lucky's) when kid soccer comes around. Rough schedule is Montclair Park September, October, November, then April, May and a little June, all other times at Shepherd Canyon. CURRENT LOCATION: Soccer Field on Shepherd Canyon, next to fire house.

We have a Teamsnap to track availability, send me an email if you have questions or want to join. Occasionally we don't have a quorum and cancel the game, but that's only once every couple of months.

A few items that best give the flavor of our game,
1) Sidelines are more like guidelines, as long as you catch it, you can throw it back in.
2) We do let the younger kids play by kid rules, which means if they touch it but drop it, we count it as a catch where they touched it. Adults need to petition league commissioner for an exception to play by kid rules. (The kids are getting better since I wrote this so we don't have too many playing like this anymore.)
3) We kind of keep score, but some how we always end up in a tie around 9:50 when someone gasps "Next 2 out of 3 wins”.
4) Running is allowed, but not encouraged. (or to put it another way, "It’s been years since I played regularly, and I wasn’t fast then."
5) It's about the journey, not the destination.

Fields: Astroturf / Grass
Description: Year round game, Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunch time.

Two possible locations: Marlin Park or Belmont Sports Center at 550 Island Pkwy Belmont, CA 94002. During winter or wet days we play at Marlin, which is astroturf. Other times we go to Belmont, which has grass fields.

Beginner friendly, level ranges from first-time players to people who play on tournaments to veterans who have been playing for 20 years or so.

We typically get at least 5 on 5. Full 7 on 7 games with a couple of subs are not rare, and some times we've been known to play box 3 on 3 when there's not enough people.

Stanford Oval Ultimate

Saturdays: 3:00pm or 4:00pm, depending on daylight savings time

Description: Great game on Saturdays at the Stanford Oval!

Friendly and newcomers are very welcome. It's competitive in the sense that we often run hard and play with a stack, but we want everyone to have fun and aren't so worried about who wins etc.

Email rshane@gmail.com to join the mailing list, because games don't always happen, but they usually do.

There can sometimes be a few ultimate games on the Oval. We play between the sidewalks, and on the end of the Oval farthest from the quad and Memorial Church.

Come join us! Apologies if I don't get back to you right away, but I will get back to you! Also, the game starts at 3pm when daylight savings time is off and 4pm when daylight savings time is on.

If the map on this page is unfamiliar to you, here are directions from downtown Palo Alto, CA: Please drive up University Avenue in Palo Alto (the main shopping street) toward Stanford. University Ave will become Palm Drive. Take Palm Drive as far as you can until you run into “The Oval”. Park in any of the spots that border The Oval and you will find us on the grass strip in the middle of the field. People start to arrive at the scheduled start time to play catch and warm up. The game usually gets going by 20 minutes after the hour.

Here is a Google Map link to The Oval: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Stanford+Oval+Parking/@37.4292526,-122.170506,17z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x808fbb298137ee3b:0x3342e722f51b7226!8m2!3d37.430177!4d-122.168666

South Bay (Women's) Developmental Practice

Contact: Alex Shim
Email:

Saturdays: 10 AM

Fields: Grass
Description: Purpose:
We believe in supporting motivated women who want to improve, and eventually become great cutters, defenders, and triple threat handlers
We want to try something different:
- Trust our women to work the offense, get open, and get resets.
- Prepare ourselves to have self-confidence and handle responsibility.
- Work on strong fundamentals, handler cutting, game situation drills, and small group scrimmages.

Motivation:
We believe in a better way for women to learn ultimate, especially if they didn’t play a lot in high school/college.
Pickup and mixed leagues aren’t always a good learning environments - sometimes guys will take over cutting lanes, or a more experienced handler will dominate the disc or crowd less experienced players for dumps. It’s pretty hard to get better without a team that trusts players to get open and make good throws.
And maybe that’s a self-perpetuating cycle.

Practice:
Pick 1 or 2 skills/concepts
Lots of throwing, for that skill
Game situation drills (high reps, no long lines, no artificial drills)
3v3 scrimmages, focus on that skill and situation

Join us or contact me for more information.

Sundays: 3:00PM

Fields: grass, firm - most use cleats
Description: Join us this Sunday for the friendliest game in town! Age 9 to 70-something!

** 6/8/18 update:
Great numbers lately (multiple subs)! Meet @ 3pm, games typically starting 3:15 or so, usually playing until 5:30ish. Field conditions are packed and weedy, but play is friendly and spirited. We play all year, same time! **

Bring a light & a dark shirt (please skip pale colors like grey & yellow!) - be flexible & ready to make matched teams for good, fun play.

This game plays every week unless canceled on the Facebook page.

This is a no-stress, friendly pick-up game that welcomes players of ALL experience levels, abilities, ages, and sexes. We come to have fun and play hard – aggressive attitudes stay home, please. New players always welcome!

We meet at the tree near Barrett & Jacksol - come introduce yourself! There is a bathroom and water fountain at the park.

We play by current UPA rules, but defense marks up for a dropped pull (no turnover) and we generally go with "a cool catch beats a close call."
