UNC Evening Pickup (Free! Lights!)Contact: Bill Bourret
Fields: Outdoor Turf
Description: Active pickup open to students and the community Tues/Thurs evenings (usually 9pm) on UNC's campus. We play on Hooker turf fields unless lights are off or otherwise posted, then we are on Ehringhaus turf fields. Hooker has brand new turf and lights as of October 2016!
Our coed games are semi-competitive: We play by rules, count stalls, and wear light/dark but do not run organized stacks or plays. We do run hard and try to win, but never at the expense of players. As such we are open to all players regardless of skill level (though you should be able to run and catch a frisbee), and our games are free to play.
Our games are played year-round, even in the cold rain or dead of winter! (Though we don't play in electrical storms or when roads are iced, and note numbers are lower in any rain.) Our best games are definitely in the summer, but we still have plenty of fun in the fall/spring.

Please note that for the facebook groups, while we use 'likes' as an informal RSVP system, we virtually always have more participants than likes. So come on out even if the likes tally looks a little low!
What to bring: White & dark jerseys, cleats (or sneakers), and water! Hooker has running water and bathrooms, Ehringhaus only has outhouses and no water. We typically get started about 20 minutes after the start time is posted. It is normal for there to not be many folks right at the start time, we are all usually a few minutes late. :) We then typically play for about 1.5-2 hours or until lights shut off, whichever comes first!
See you out on the fields!
